Filmmaker Panels to Celebrate LIIFE’s 15th Anniversary

Promotional events pave the way for the 15th Annual Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE)!

The 15th Annual Long Island International Film Expo will be held from July 13–19, 2012 at the Bellmore Movies. Warm-up film blocks and events may be added in the coming months. In continuing the mission of LIIFE to assist filmmakers who have made films or those that hope to make films, the Long Island Film/TV Foundation has produced two panels to help you become successful in this field.

On Saturday, April 14 from 11:00am–12:30pm, LIIFE will host a Filmmaker Panel at Adelphi University’s Alumni House in Garden City. Past winners of LIIFE will share the journey they took with their films and what life has been like after they screened at the Long Island International Film Expo. This is a chance to meet and learn from successful, award winning filmmakers Stevan Mena (Bereavement), Elias Plagianos (Crimson Mask), Pierre Stefanos (Bedfellows), Alexander Etseyatse (Mikel’s Faith) and Ralph Suarez (Purgantory Comics). This LIFE after LIIFE panel is a must for those who love filmmaking, would like to make a film or have a curiosity for it. To learn more, go to: http://events.adelphi.edu/LIIFE. This panel is free, but you do need to register at that link.

LIIFE also understands the challenges filmmakers have trying to fund their films. Therefore, on Saturday, May 19 from 10:30am–12:30 pm at Molloy College in Rockville Centre, renowned entertainment attorney Marc Jacobson will moderate a panel discussion about film financing. The panel will be located on campus inside the Wilbur Arts Center at the Hays Theatre. Professionals from the movie business will help you learn how to find the cash you need to make your own film. Even if you’ve made films before, you may find a new avenue to raise those difficult-to-find funds.

Both panels are free and all are welcomed! These events represent some of the alluring elements of what makes LIIFE the festival of choice for filmmakers and moviegoers. We want you informed, connected, and entertained! Experience LIIFE!

For more information on these panels or on the Long Island International Film Expo (LIIFE), please check www.longislandfilm.com, contact longislandfilm@aol.com or call (516) 571-3168.

Locations for Feature Film!!

Hi everyone,     (This must be in Nassau County)

For feature film, Bitter Pill, a Steven Soderberg film, they're looking for a home on the water to simulate Greenwich, CT, but they want to stay in Nassau County.  They also may have to hover a helicopter at the home.  This film stars Jude Law, Rooney Mara, Channing Tateum and Catherine Zeta-Jones.  They have a "decent" budget, but not a huge budget. Village fees will have to be taken into account. They also have 60 person cast and crew as opposed to a usual 150 +, so it's more manageable.
I've attached a representative photo.
They are looking for one day of exterior filming between April 10 and the end of May.  They may need to be able to hover a helicopter, which would ideally base nearby, and bring in only for the shots, perhaps for a total of about 4 hours throughout the day.
Please let me know if your area has this and would welcome this, based on the aesthetic and the helicopter requirement.
Also, they want the house to be ON the water.  Their producer specifically asked about Oyster Bay.  How about your area?  Please send suggestions to debfilm@aol.com and reference Bitter Pill.
Thank you.
Debbie

Locations Needed for Film/TV Production

Locations Needed for Film/TV Production

Hello all, (These must be in Nassau County)
I am looking for the following locations:

1) For television pilot, The Carrie Diaries, they're looking for a barn. I recommended Old Bethpage Village Restoration, but do you have any other suggestions? If so, please reference The Carrie Diaries and e-mail to debfilm@aol.com

Thank you for your attention.
Best,
Debbie
