He is able to manipulate the tiny gray lines of emotions to such a wonderful extent that the natural conversation and action between characters lead to great thrills for his audience.

This is an actors dream - to act in front of thousands of people on Wall Street - looking for homeless types, protestor types and businessmen types.
2) Child actors age 12-14 who can be on camera for a few minutes watching television - it's a split screen shot of a reality tv show woman talking about being famous and the girl is watching mindlessly staring at the tv watching with makeup on. It would take ten minutes tops can you ask around - the parents can e-mail me at scottgoldbergmovies@gmail.com. Do let me know of any responses, thanks!

3) Hockey Rink - We have had a call from a production company that is looking for an ice hockey rink with an older design, that can hold approximately 3,000 people, and would include locker rooms, equipment room, office, etc. The film is set in 1950s in a small town in Ontario. This project is in the very early development stages. They are based in California, but would like to film in NYS, if possible (we like that and definitely don’t want them to go to Ontario). The ice hockey rink is the key location, so everything will revolve around finding the rink with the perfect look for them. They plan to start filming in late winter and go into spring of 2012. They have identified a few places that were older, but they had been redone inside so they lost the 1950’s feel and weren’t acceptable.I am reaching out to all regional offices and hope that someone can help identify the perfect location for this project. Once the rink is confirmed, they would like to bundle the rest of their wish list (see below) in the same area.
Ext. Blue-collar residential neighborhood in Detroit with interiors of two houses
Ext. Blue-collar commercial street with a neighborhood bank and bank interior
Int./ext.Train or bus station (exactly which is to be determined-- going to Canada by train as opposed to other means of transportation greatly limits us in terms of locations, and we already have a significant challenge by needing a period hockey arena)
Ext. Commercial street with small businesses in small town Ontario
Int./ext. Barbershop in small town Ontario
Int./ext. Minor league hockey arena (ideally seating +/- 3000 spectators), including locker rooms, equipment room, office, etc. in small town Ontario
Ext. Blue-collar residential area in small town Ontario
Int./ext. Diner in small-town Ontario
Int./ext. Elementary school in small-town Ontario
Int./ext. Modest Apartment (interior could be a set) in small-town Ontario
Int./ext. Police station in small-town Ontario
Int. Hospital waiting room in small-town Ontario

Thank you, and please refer any suggestions to debfilm@aol.com, referencing the job.

Locations Needed for Movies/TV!!

Hello All, (These must be in Nassau County)

If you have any referrals, please refer to "Chaptick Hutch"
2) Looking for abandoned buildings for a short film, "5th & Lexington." Mid August. Please refer to "Fifth & Lexington"
3) For small audio visual project for an artist, needs a body of water with no waves, and where you cannot see land when you look up from it. Probably North Shore, but can't be terribly expensive. Please refer to "Spence." 2nd week in August
4) TV series Pam Am is looking for an Italian Villa. July 21 - 22. Please refer to "Pan Am."
5) For a TJ Max Commercial - needs a store that would point to a street or to a courtyard. Could be an empty car dealership. Needs natural light. Needs to be big enough to be a TJ Max store. Please refer to "TJ Maxx Staudt" Juuly 20 - 22.
6)for TV Pilot "Promo Discover" they need a 1950 working class house - one level with a garage and a big backyard. Please refer to "Discover" July 13 - 15.

The 14th annual Long Island International Film Expo will screen 116 short and feature-length independent films from around the world. This important festival will take place from July 7 - 14, 2011. We will begin with a festival warm-up on Thursday, July 7, and our official opening night movie block begins at 7:00 pm on Friday, July 8 with the award winning feature film, As If I Am Not There. This is a film not to be missed. http://liifilmexpo.org/sections/films11/0006_As_If_I_Am_Not_There.html

For film blocks that begin 5:00 pm or earlier, Monday - Friday, seniors and students can bring a friend for free!

Locations Needed for TV/Indie Film annnddd LIIFE!

Hello All, (Must be in Nassau County)
We are in need of the following locations:
1) For television series, Pan Am, probably July 21 and 22.
They have a location that is meant to play as the exterior of an Italian Villa Hotel set in Rome. The scene depicts our leading man, captain of the new Pan Am intercontinental jet liner, pulling up on his Vespa in front of the hotel in mid-morning. He has a conversation with the head stewardess, who is also his love interest, and then drives off as she continues on to her luncheon appointment. Does anyone know where Villa Carola is? Reference Pan Am with suggestions
2) Location needed for a new pilot TV show for Comedy Central called Time Trumpet - and they would like to shoot a day's worth of work in Nassau County early next week. Very small show, crew, camera, etc.
Needs a Nassau County suburb - that is quick/easy to clear/cheap/close to NYC - and has that quintessential "small town USA" look/feel. Sidewalks, porches, street lamps and a quaint Main Street type look. Like Hicksville but "cuter." Please reference "Time Trumpet"
3) The 14th Annual Long Island Internation Film Expo (LIIFE) will be held from July 7 - 14 - July 7th is our festival warm up - kicking into high gear with our official opening night feature on Friday, July 8 at 7:00 pm. Ticket holders are invited to a complimentary wine and cheese reception from 5 pm - 6:30 pm. Seniors and students - bring a friend for free for any film block Monday - Friday that begins at 5 pm or earlier. For more information - see www.LongIslandFilm.com. Please pass the word along in your e-mail blasts, newsletters, websites and e-mail lists - thank you!! LIRR ticket holders, Town of Hempstead Employees and County of Nassau Employees get $2 off per general admission ticket (not to be combined with other offers. Thank you!
4)For indie filmmaker, Keith Black: We need a small furnished, middle class looking 2 bedroom house or condo or apartment with walk-in kitchen - NYC LOCAL as the sole location for a small indie film. We will need access for two to three weeks in August and of course have an insurance policy. But if an apartment, the landlord must approve. Scenarios that would be good - if it were a vacant guest house or maybe if it's a two family and one of the apartment are vacant or a vacation house, etc. (But must be furnished)
We hardly have anything to pay but this is a project by an underground actor-writer and will feature big name actors who are working for the passion and karma and no money. What I can promise is an Associate Producer credit and the bragging rights that go with it. I'm an inner-city math teacher on his summer break and these projects are always a major inspiration to my students. You can learn more about me here www.drivingmecrazymovie.com. www.getthescripttowoodyallen.com. You can contact him at KeithBlack1996@aol.com

Thank you for your help.
Best,
Debbie

Filmmakers Connection Meeting 2/16 - 2010 LIIFE Winner Hits the Theaters! - Early Bird Deadline Approaching etc

(Stevan Mena, of the soon to be released horror feature, Bereavement. This 2011 LIIFE winner will also be part of our screenwriting panel - info below)

Early bird submissions for the Long Island International Film Expo are Feb 18, 2011 – so if you’re going to submit, this will be the least expensive time. Drop dead extended deadline is April 1, 2011.

Congratulations to 2010 LIIFE winner, Stevan Mena, on the distribution of his film, “Bereavement.” The theatrical release will begin here on Long Island at select markets on March 4 with two locations including the National Amusements Island 16 in Holtsville and the National Amusements Farmingdale 14 in Farmingdale. Come support one of our own!!

The next meeting of the Filmmakers Connection will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 7:00 pm in room 303 of Five Towns College (305 North Service Road, Dix Hills, NY 11746).
The speaker will be Steven Taub, an Emmy Nominated Documentary filmmaker (“Laugh A Day”), who has worked in Television & Video Production since 1986. He will guide you and teach you how to succeed and get your work seen. Steven has an extensive background in marketing, public relations, and writing. Steven Taub is a member of the Suffolk County Film Commission.
He will be collecting head shots and resumes as will Donna McKenna for two films she is currently casting. (If it snows and it sticks, this meeting will be postponed. We will alert you through my (Debra Markowitz) and Donna’s (McKenna) facebook pages – be sure to check them if it’s snowing!).
Also at this meeting:
Mr. Mullen, a 12 minute short horror film, directed, written and produced by
Scott Goldberg will be showcased at this months meeting. The film was inspired
by the collapse of the economy in 2008 and comments on society as well as the
horrors of one losing their life savings, home and sanity. Inspired by real life
horror, Mr. Mullen offers a realistic look on humanity, greed, power, corruption
and a man who loses it all.
The film features Friday the 13th Part III veteran actor Paul Kratka, as well as
Long Island talent, Robert Youngren, Chris Margaritis, Keith McMahon and Peter
Longshanks. The film can be viewed at http://www.facebook.com/l/00f79CuO_SZFBw6TcwcGBY1llMg;www.mrmullenfilm.com.

Donna McKenna will again be collecting canned goods for the food pantry.

Because of showing Scott’s movie as well as speaker Steven Taub, we will not be doing “show and tell” screenings at this month’s meeting.

Free Screenwriting Panel:
The Long Island International Film Expo will have a screenwriting panel held at Adelphi University (Blodget Hall – Room 108) on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Panelists will include Adelphi Communications Faculty, Terrence Ross and Joan Stein Schimke. Additional panelists will include: award winning filmmaker, Stephan Mena (Bereavement), and video game screenwriters, JT Petty (of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell) and WGA nominee, Sande Chen. Topics covered will be writing for short films, website storytelling, writing within the horror genre, and writing for video games. More details of the event will unfold within the weeks to come. If you have any questions, please contact Jim Cook at jim.cook2006@gmail.com.
